If you’re recently engaged and in the process of planning your wedding, the first thing you should start to do is research. While it’s easy to want to jump into buying things and booking vendors right away, you should always make sure you know what you’re getting into. If you have a specific budget, this will especially be important throughout the entire length of your planning because the last thing you want is to come across any hidden fees or extra costs you weren’t aware of because you didn’t do your research. Start by making a list of all the different vendors or venues you will need to work with, and then make a list of questions pertaining to each of them. The main ones you’ll have will be your ceremony, reception, DJ, florist and cake, and depending on what all you do there could be others as well. For each of the people or places you plan to work with, make sure you are given a cost sheet before you order or book anything. You’ll want to get as much information from each place as you can in order to help you determine if you want to work with them or not. Before even speaking with anyone, it’s always a great idea to check online first because you might see something you really like or dislike. Another great way to do research is to attend bridal shows.
This way you can see many different vendors at once, ask questions, look through photos, see examples or ideas in person, and really get a feel for the people you could potentially be working with. The Sioux Falls Convention Center hosts Sioux Empire Wedding Showcase, so it’s the perfect place to come and see what all of the local vendors have to offer. We also set it up so you can see an actual wedding reception room set and decorated just like we would for your wedding night. You can talk to wedding professionals face to face, and even get ideas from other brides-to-be who are attending the show. Going to a bridal show is probably the best tool for doing research for your wedding because you will get to see ideas from every aspect of the planning process in just a few short hours. So if you’re in the Sioux Falls or surrounding areas, please make sure you stop out to the next bridal show at the Sioux Falls Convention Center which is coming up on February 16th from Noon to 3PM. Make sure to Pre-Register today!
