One thing most couples getting married have in common is that they want everything to be perfect. Every little detail is deliberated, especially the details with the wedding reception. The wedding reception is a large portion of the day; therefore it is obvious that a lot of time and effort is put into it. Trends come and go with wedding receptions….but one trend or consideration that seems to be on the rise and has been for some time is that couples are seeking more sophistication. You might be asking yourself, how do you transcend sophistication? Well, I have unending thoughts on this topic as I have been in the business for ten years and have been a part of some unbelievable events that just oozed sophistication and class. To start out, sometimes one has to remember that less is more. Don’t get caught up in trying to “do it all”. Choose a color palate, and style and stick to it. For most couples, budget is also an important factor….so don’t forget to sit down and outline your budget (and a realistic budget at thatJ). Next, talk to the event manager or catering manager at the venue you have booked. Far too often, seeking advice from the onsite contact is overlooked. Your event manager is a resource available to you, and they know the venue better than you possible could…..so take advantage. Think about what you want your guests to “feel” when they enter the room, and start brainstorming ideas. Write all of your ideas down, and keep them in a notebook so you can refer back to them later. Don’t immediately throw something out because it initially doesn’t sound like something that you originally thought you would want. Inquire if the venue has an inventory of items that you could utilize…and some at no additional cost. You never know, they may have some random items that would work perfectly with your concept. Why not ask? You have nothing to lose, if you don’t ask, you might never find out! Here at the Sioux Falls Convention Center we offer a unique assortment of items that can definitely enhance a wedding reception. Sleek lounge chairs can be incorporated into your room set, providing your guests with a sophisticated area to chit-chat. Our collection of “granite pieces” can dress up your tall cocktail tables, your cake table, or even be added as a part of some of your centerpieces to give them some height and a clean modern look. Copper tops at your bars or even on your head table can certainly exude elegance, and our granite top carts for your buffet or food stations are also very contemporary. To put the icing on the cake, we can assist you with custom Gobo’s (with a monogram or the couple’s name and date), colored up-lighting, and sleek black spandex chair covers. If you want to confirm a wedding reception venue that will be sure to ensure your reception is lovely and refined, please give me a call today!
