Designing Your Wedding Reception

Design can make or break an event.  The design of the room includes every aspect….the shape of the room, the colors, the textures, and the layout.  If you are an event planner, you naturally think about design.  What if you are not an event planner?  What if you are a bride?  Chances are you have ALSO greatly considered design, as your wedding reception is an area that most certainly incorporates it.  Some ladies have been thinking about the design of their wedding reception since they were a little girl, and have most of the basic design concepts laid out in their mind.  One large facet of the wedding reception room design is naturally that of table centerpieces.  Table centerpieces can literally transform a room…..take you to another place…..create an atmosphere, produce your dream wedding reception.  The fantastic thing about table centerpieces is that anything goes!  Literally.  Brides in the 21st century are not afraid to express their own style.  They come up with modern / edgy ideas, and find ways to make it work with their centerpieces.  It is typical to have a few (four or even five) different designs of centerpieces at a wedding reception.  It is exciting to play with the different elements of the wedding reception theme and or the actual room in order to achieve your ultimate goal for the wedding reception feel of your preference.  One of the benefits of our spaces here at the Sioux Falls Convention Center is that we have high ceilings.  This allows for brides to take their centerpieces to a whole “new level” when it comes to centerpiece height.  Large rod iron candelabras that look like trees are absolutely stunning with the candles, live flowers, or jewels/beads dangling are exquisite.  Tall vases can make a marvelous statement.  Check with the wedding reception venue that you book, to see if they have any standard centerpieces or options that you can utilize for your table centerpieces.  This is a clever way to use your resources to the best of your ability, and possibly even save yourself some money.   Here at the Sioux Falls Convention Center we offer a standard centerpiece option at no cost (round mirror tiles / hurricane lamp / white tapered candles / votive candles)…..however, we also have some other unique items that you may use at no cost.  Granite pieces which can be stacked to display votive candles or other centerpieces can be placed on top of them for height, Eiffel tower vases which work wonderfully to again add height and they are not bulky so you don’t have to worry about them being an obstruction, and tall goblets that work fantastic for floating candles.  Centerpiece options / designs are virtually endless!  So, have fun with it….don’t exclude anything, keep your options open.  You never know when you might see / find something that might be the perfect element to give your centerpieces the originality you are looking for.  If you want to talk about your vision for your wedding reception design, give me a call today!
