Room setup is of utmost importance when planning an event and this especially applies to special events, including wedding receptions. Room setup can basically “make or break” an event because it influences the guest overall perception. Aspects that are of paramount importance and always need to be considered are:

Wedding reception room setups can vary from traditional/basic, to modern/edgy….however; the actual dimensions of the room and venue itself can influence and affect what will be feasible. It is always beneficial to actually visit the venue and take a look at the exact room that you would be in for your wedding reception before you actually sign a contract. Photos are a very valuable tool to get an idea of what a room looks like; on the other hand they may not show the entire space or only show the space from one particular angle. This could result in oversights, like not realizing there are pillars or other obstructions in the room. Here at the Sioux Falls Convention Center, all of our rooms are free of pillars/obstructions which allow you more flexibility with your room setup. Another advantage to our ballroom spaces for your wedding reception is they can be tailored to suit the size of your group. We have move-able “air walls” that can be opened or closed as needed, so we can accommodate events of all sizes. One of the biggest complaints I hear from people attending wedding receptions is that the room was basically “too crowded”. Comments like: “I couldn’t even back my chair up without bumping into the person at the table behind me” or “I had a hard time moving from one side of the room to the other, even getting to the bar to get a drink was difficult”.
