There are numerous elements that go into putting together a wedding reception.  Sometimes little things will get over-looked.  If this happens, things can quickly unravel causing unnecessary stress on an important day.  Being prepared and thinking the entire day/weekend through will ultimately benefit everyone!  A couple of simple things that can make a noticeable difference are:  1) a storage room and 2) a room for gift opening.  These two things might sound like obvious requests; however it can be surprising how frequently both are overlooked.  It is in your best interest to ask about the possibility of adding both of these rooms when you are doing your site tours for possible wedding reception venues.  Depending on the venue, it may or may not be able to accommodate this request.  However, it is still important to ask immediately so the space can be set aside for you if needed.  The storage space is useful because it allows a place to safely secure items that you will be bringing in for your wedding reception.  Most brides/grooms like to bring items to the facility as soon as Thursday afternoon (for a Saturday wedding reception) if at all possible.  This helps to alleviate stress on the day before the wedding, as the couple will be amidst family and prepping for the rehearsal dinner.  The storage space also comes in handy at the conclusion of the event.  Storing items overnight can be much more convenient than trying to load up after the long day.  Items like, décor, gifts, cake/knife servers, and toasting flutes will need to be packaged up and removed from the reception room if other arrangements are not made.  The gift opening room is without doubt very useful and convenient, if you want to save time/energy from loading up the gifts and unloading the gifts an unnecessary amount of times.  Here at the Sioux Falls Convention Center, we have several small meeting rooms that can be utilized for storage and the gift opening room.  No matter which space you are hosting your wedding reception in; we have a room within a close proximity of it.  If the arrangements are made for one/both of these rooms, we will ensure the space is secure and can even give you a couple of options for a breakfast on Sunday morning during the gift opening.  This is a great way to make it an enjoyable activity for the families.
