Weddings can make for a long day!  Especially if you are a part of the family or actually in the wedding party…you could be looking at up to a 15 hour day.  Therefore, if you are a bride and groom and you are putting together the wedding reception, you might want to keep this in mind when you start to consider what type of food and beverage you will provide for your guests that day/evening.  There are so many options to consider when you are looking through catering menus, it can sometimes get overwhelming.  It is often helpful to sit down with the sales manager from the facility to discuss menu possibilities, if you are not an individual who is familiar with food and or catering options.  If your wedding ceremony is early in the day, and you know your guests will have a significant amount of time in between the ceremony and the actual dinner that evening, it would be wise to offer a few food items during that time to hold them over.  Hot and or cold appetizers can be butler passed, or setup at stations in the pre-reception area or inside of the actual wedding reception room.  Other ideas can include:  displays (vegetable, or cheese displays are popular) flavored spreads with assortments of crackers and breads, or specialty stations (like a chocolate fountain).  Another new trend is providing your guests with a “late-night snack”.  If you have an earlier dinner, and then a longer dance portion of the evening, this will work wonderfully and your guests will greatly appreciate it.   Some of the wedding reception we have hosted here at the Sioux Falls Convention Center have opted for this, and were very pleased with the unique ideas we were able to put together for them.  A couple of the popular late night options for food have been things like:  super nacho bar, omelet stations, jumbo pretzels with hot mustard and warm cheese sauce, popcorn varieties, warm cinnamon rolls, and cookies with milk.  The possibilities are virtually endless, and here at the Sioux Falls Convention Center we are always thinking of new ways to put together an event that you will never forget from beginning to end.  It would be our pleasure to sit down with you to create a custom menu that will exceed both your and your guests’ expectations for the entire evening.
